My Voice Must Be Heard

Defend Wisconsin

I am writing my wish for the Governor and our elected officials to please sit down at the table and speak to my union in good faith. Please do not dismantle my union with this budget bill that you have proposed.

My name is Martha Querin-Schultz and I have worked at the University of Wisconsin- Madison for over 15 years. I am a University Services Associate #1, a classified staff member, in the International Student Services office. I love my job more than any other job I have ever held.

I am the second lowest paid staff member in our entire division, The Office of Student Life, Dean of Students. Last year I made $27,000. The contributions that you are asking me to make will severely impact my husband's and my life...but I am more than willing to take cuts and make contributions during these difficult financial times.

But PLEASE, do not take away my right to bargain now or in the future. Without my Union, I am a very, very small fish in a huge pond and I know that my voice will not be heard. I fear for my future without my Union representation.

Thank you for listening.
